Time Out NY: Dita Von Teese “Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray!” Variety Show
Friday, October 12, 2012
Tue Oct 30 – Thu Nov 1
Gramercy Theatre, 127 E 23rd St, New York
If ogling girls in slutty costumes isn’t your bag, consider this evening of entertainment a classy take on the Halloween-as-an-excuse-to-show-some-skin trend. Von Teese, the reigning queen of burlesque, hits NYC for a string of exceedingly rare performances, just in time for the holiday. Expect the doll-like provocateur (who, despite all appearances, turned 40 this fall) to don multiple dazzling, bejeweled outfits. Acting as Von Teese’s bustier (by which we mean “supporting”) are Gotham burlesque scenesters like host Murray Hill and Dirty Martini. Be prepared to sully yourself on the secondary market—tickets are selling fast.

The Queen of tease made her triumphant return to the sunset strip over Mothers day weekend where she and her all-star cast of performers blew the roof off the House of Blues for 3 sold out performances.
Yes, Dita Von Teese has once again graced Hollywood with her seductive Strip Strip Hooray revue! If you were fortunate enough to catch her multiple nights stand at the Roxy in 2010/11 you certainly recall her top notch stage production featuring only the best props and designs, they’re back! In true Dita fashion she brought out only the best and put on a 90 minute show that left crowds captivated all night.

After 20 years of experiencing Dita Von Teese on stage, I can honestly admit that the gal never ceases to impress me.
From her exquisitely constructed costumes to the sumptuously tuned lighting, Dita’s stage performances are triumphs in the art of beauty—and perfection. She and her team leave no Swarovski crystal unturned in making sure that everything is ne plus ultra for the audiences who are paying good money to see her.

After 20 years of modeling and performing, Dita Von Teese is the modern-day ambassador of all things burlesque in the U.S. and abroad, but until recently her live performances have not been seen outside of private high-end events and infrequent one-off engagements.

That changes with her new Strip Strip Hooray tour, featuring a 90-minute burlesque show at venues that traditionally host mid-size rock concerts. She brings the show to The Fillmore for two sold-out shows on May 21 and May 22 after kicking of the tour earlier this month in Los Angeles. We spoke with her about the show during a phone interview.
LA Times: The pop burlesque of Dita Von Teese

In a city where nearly every bar and club has some type of “burlesque” dancer or show, the excitement generated by Dita Von Teese’s “Strip Strip Hooray” tour –- which took over the House of Blues on Friday and Saturday -– is rather significant. Saturday offered two shows; at the early one, the venue was packed to the rafters with the expected greaser guys and curvy gals in bright red lipstick, flowers in their hair and skin-tight vintage frocks.
